Domestic Terminal Construction Works
Construction works have commenced on the Domestic Terminal Security Upgrade Project in the central area of the Domestic Terminal that have changed the way you travel at BNE. Please take the time to review the information below.
As a result of construction works, the way you access Airline Check-in and Bag-drop inside the terminal has changed.
Best route to Check-in and Bag drop areas
Qantas, Jetstar, Rex, National Jet Express and Link Airways passengers should enter the terminal using the Qantas and Central terminal area entrances to access Airline Check-in and Bag drop:
Virgin, Alliance and Aerlink passengers can only use the Virgin area terminal entrances to access Airline Check-in and Bag drop, due to a closure of access inside the terminal building.
For Domestic passengers being dropped off of the Pick-up and Drop-off road, please use these drop off zones for easier access to the Domestic Terminal:
- All Qantas and Jetstar passengers, it is recommended that you use Zone 1 (Light Blue) to Zone 3 (Dark Blue)
Virgin, Alliance, Rex, National Jet Express, Aerlink, and Link Airways passengers, it is recommended that you use Zone 6 (Yellow) through to Zone 7 (Green)
Construction is underway on the P2 Car Park Expansion which will provide an additional 1,700 parking spaces at the Domestic Terminal precinct.
- The public waiting area at the Domestic Terminal and the overheight vehicle parking space are now closed.
- Passengers with vehicles over 2.4m high will need to use AIRPARK, with free buses to and from the terminal. We recommend allowing extra time for travel.
- If you're picking up a passenger from the Domestic Terminal, the first 30 mins of ParkShort is free of charge. You will find ParkShort at level 2 of the P1 car park.
- All Qantas and Jetstar passengers will claim baggage on carousels 1-3. For best access, please use the exits opposite Gate 23 or Gate 25 only.
- Virgin, Alliance, Rex, National Jet Express, Aerlink, and Link Airways passengers will claim baggage on carousels 5-7. Due to a closure of access inside the terminal, for direct access to baggage claim, you will need to use the exit opposite Gate 39.
The Prayer room at the Domestic Terminal will be temporarily closed from 13 September whilst we upgrade the amenities. We apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding and patience as we work to improve our facilities.
Brisbane Airport frequently undergoes runway maintenance. Planned maintenance coming up includes:
- Major runway works - Legacy Runway: Major rectification works will see 18 aging concrete slabs replaced at the end of the Legacy Runway. Weather permitting, the project has commenced and will finish by the end of September. People may notice temporary changes to where aircraft fly during this major work.
Due to Cross River Rail construction works, Airtrain services to and from the Gold Coast will be affected by trackwork between 14-29 September. These disruptions will not affect the Airport stations. Airtrain encourages all users during this time period to plan your journey in advance and allow for extra travel time.
